Who do people accept as god

How many of you believe you know God? Let’s explore this question further. What is God, who is God, and who do people accept as God?

There’s a crucial distinction to be made:

  1. Being God refers to the creator of the universe, a being or entity that none of the gods we know claim to be.
  2. Being accepted as God means being a human being who has been elevated to a divine status by others.
In other words, those we consider gods were born as humans but possessed exceptional qualities that set them apart from their contemporaries. This is why they have been revered and worshiped for centuries.”

To better understand, let’s consider a few examples:

  1. Lord Ram, who sacrificed his kingdom to honor his father’s words, sets an ideal for sons. In contrast, today’s children often take from their parents without giving back.
  2. Sita, who left her lavish life as a queen to be with her husband, exemplifies the devotion of a wife. Unlike today’s fleeting relationships.
  3. Lakshman, who renounced his kingdom to support his brother Ram, demonstrates the selflessness of a brother. Unlike today’s sibling rivalry.

These individuals have been revered as gods for their exemplary behavior, teaching us how to be ideal sons, wives, and brothers. However, people often worship them without embracing their values.

Other examples include:

  1. Jesus Christ, who taught that our actions (karma) have lasting impact, even if our bodies perish.
  2. Lord Buddha, who taught the importance of meditation and enlightenment.
  3. Guru Nanak, who emphasized the significance of a teacher (guru) in guiding us towards wisdom.
  4. Sai Baba, a recent example, who was accepted as a god after his death. Interestingly, he was seen begging during his lifetime. This raises the question of how someone who was perceived as a beggar could be embraced as a god?
    • It’s a valid question, but people today are often overly possessive about their beliefs, leading to defensiveness when questioned about God. However, it shouldn’t be that way.
      • When I mentioned that Sai Baba was accepted as a god after his death, I wanted to highlight a crucial aspect of our society. Why did someone with noble qualities have to beg? Why did society fail to support him during his lifetime?
      • I’m drawing attention to the fact that when people worship a photo or statue of their god, they often overlook the opportunity to serve a living being who embodies divine qualities. If given the chance, people might go to great lengths to serve and donate to someone they consider a god. Yet, when faced with a real person in need, they might not even offer a glass of water.
      • It’s striking how selfish we’ve become, neglecting to serve the poor. And yet, who would have thought that a beggar could be accepted as a god by the majority? This paradox highlights our societal flaws and the need for greater empathy and selflessness.
      • Now, let me explain how Sai Baba’s remarkable story unfolded. Typically, a beggar’s primary concern is filling their own stomach. However, Sai Baba, despite being a beggar, shared the food he received with the entire village. This selfless act showcased his kingly heart, demonstrating courage and generosity. In contrast, many multi-millionaires, who can afford to give generous tips to waiters, rarely extend help to the poor.
      • Comparing these two examples reveals a striking contrast. Sai Baba, a beggar, possessed a heart of gold, while the wealthy individuals were beggars in spirit, unwilling to share with those in need. Sai Baba’s life teaches us that one doesn’t need wealth to make a difference; a good heart is all that’s required. This remarkable quality, his teachings and legacy earned him divine status.

5. Other exemplary figures include Mahaveer, who taught the importance of spiritual nakedness, stripping away the masks that hide our true selves. He also emphasized sensitivity towards all beings in the universe.

6. Lastly, there’s Krishna, who was accepted as a god due to his gift of the Gita’s wisdom to humanity and his embodiment of love. These qualities have made him a revered figure, worthy of worship.

I have reached the culmination of this article, and I hope you now grasp the concept of God and whom people accept as divine. These individuals were born human but possessed exceptional qualities that set them apart.

Thus far, I have highlighted their noble traits.

Now, I will delve into the challenges they faced:

  1. Take, for instance, Ram, Lakshman, and Sita’s 14-year exile in the forest. Can you imagine the challenges they encountered? Not only did they face physical hardships, but they also had to deal with deceit and betrayal, as seen in Ravan’s cheating with Sita.

Despite their struggles, a citizen in Ram’s kingdom doubted Sita’s character, leading her to sacrifice her life and live in the jungle again, where she gave birth to her children, Lav and Kush. Despite these trials, Sita faced further adversity when her character was doubted, leading her to sacrifice her life and live in the jungle, where she gave birth to her children Lav and Kush.

Imagine a woman who prioritized her husband above all else, to accompany him during his 14-year exile believed that her husband was more important to her than the entire kingdom itself. Unfortunately, she did not have the privilege of having her husband by her side when she gave birth to their children. Unlike you, who may have the fortune of having your husband during your pregnancy, she did not share the same luck. She faced challenges that many of us cannot even fathom.

2. Let’s consider another example, Jesus Christ. Christians believe he was born to an unmarried mother, Mary, without a father. However, this defies the natural law of human reproduction. As a result, Jesus faced bullying and ridicule from a young age due to his unconventional birth.

As he grew older, people began to admire his wisdom and regarded him as a god. However, the ruling authorities had a different understanding of godhood, believing it meant possessing extraordinary qualities like invincibility or supernatural powers. To test Jesus’ divinity, the ruler ordered his crucifixion, thinking that if he were truly a god, he would be unharmed. This brutal act of violence was meant to prove a point, but it only resulted in the senseless killing of an innocent person.

Despite his tragic end, Jesus’ wisdom and legacy continue to inspire generations. His story highlights the challenges and hardships faced by those we worship as gods.

3. Similarly, Sai Baba’s life was marked by struggles, including begging for food and essentials. Yet, people worship him, hoping for prosperity in their lives.

4. Krishna’s birth was also tumultuous, with his parents imprisoned by his uncle, leaving him without parental care during his infancy. He faced numerous challenges throughout his life, and his story serves as another example of the hardships endured by those, we consider divine.

Now, can you imagine the kind of pain and struggles that those whom you worship had to endure? Have you ever stopped, to think about the difficulties they faced, or do you only cry about your own miseries in life and pray to God to solve your problems? Try to understand the depth of their struggles and the sacrifices they made.

Conclusion: By sharing these stories, I hope to change your perception of God, moving beyond the traditional understanding instilled in you since childhood. If this article inspires even one person to see things differently, I will have achieved my purpose.
